Summary/Abstract: One of the signs of quality of life residents is the availability of green areas (among others public and settlement green areas, strolling-recreational park, lawns, municipal forests) per capita. Suburbanization is characterized by the dynamic growth of the population. The paper analyzes whether the surface of green areas grows with the increase of population. The study was conducted on the example of rural communities in the Poznań district, based on the local data bank of Central Statistical Office from the years 2004-2010. The analyses showed a large variation ranging from 5 square meters per capita in Dopiewo commune to 36 square meters per capita in Czerwonak commune, with the average for the rural commune in Poznań district of 18 square metersper capita.
