Summary/Abstract: Creating an imaginary interdisciplinary field calls „urbanofamiology“ the essay investigates the phenomenon of urban families with young children defining it as entities with peculiar ways of perception, scheme of body, and worldview. The preliminary principle of the essay urges urban families that, once in the cities, they better learn to cope with it e.g. by pointing out the characteristic features of their experiences. Besides its religious connotations, the notion of family as one single body emphasizes the elemental and practical implications of living in spaces of larger communities (e.g. the experience of heavy traffic). The essay also calls into mind that when speaking of the relationship between a metropolis and a subordinated group such as children, we cannot avoid dealing with the problem of risks and hazards of the urban environment and the deterioration thereof.
