Summary/Abstract: The author’s hypothesis suggests semantic links between three lexemes: the place name Skomlia (Belogradtchik region, Bulgaria), pishtialka (tibia), and kaval (a musical instrument, shepherd’s pipe) and cavallo, from the one side, and two unique bone artefacts with notches found in Kozarnika Cave, near Belogradtchik, Bulgaria, from the other side. The sources juxtaposed are seen in the paper as witnesses of the earliest known human culture.
