Post-War Romanian Experimentalism

Summary/Abstract: The experiment in literature represents a rupture in continuity, but Romanian postwar experiment is a mixture of innovation and tradition. It is also made of originality and creative borrowings at the same time. Western influence is indisputable, but interwar tradition is also considerable. Poetry seems to be in advance with its technical possibilities, while prose seems to be a result of “acclimatization”. One has to decide between “experimentalism” and “experimental spirit”. Nevertheless, postwar experiment, in Romanian literature, was a necessary rupture inside the ideological embargo.
