Summary/Abstract: Since 1697, Dimitrie Cantemir wrote his works, whose value draws even today the attention and the interest of researchers. Gifted with a great deal of work, Dimitrie Cantemir approached in his writings various areas, such as the history, but also wrote works geographic, political, musical or philosophical. At the end of the seventeenth century, in 1698, Dimitrie Cantemir has printed his first original work, Divanul sau gâlceava înţeleptului cu lumea sau giudeţul sufletului cu trupul, which was published in Romanian, at Iasi. For Romanian culture, the book has a special importance being the first philosophical work, and otherwise the only one of his books which will be printed on the Romanian territory. The book is preceded by three forewords. Two of these belongs to Dimitrie Cantemir, and the third is written by Ieremia Cacavela. In our study we proposed to identify the important ideas promoted by these prefaces, but also an discourse analysis, stylistic and emotional values of them, an identification of rhetorical figures and the effect they have on the reader / listener, and to mention some of the features of Romanian language specific of that period and to the area which belong their author.
