Summary/Abstract: The nineteenth century is a period of major importance for the Romanian culture and civilization: it is the interval which means the timing of Romanian culture and civilization and Western European civilization and culture. During this period, new areas appear and existing areas have been developing unexpectedly. One of the emerging areas is the journalism, which underlines its features to the beginning of the nineteenth century by newspapers as Gh. Asachi’s Albina Românească in Moldova and I. Heliade Rădulescu’s Curierul Românesc in Muntenia. Although it appears relatively late Romanian publishing is making progress throughout the nineteenth century, reaching at the end of this century the level of Western Europe’s journalism. If the first Romanian newspapers were only an impulse of the moment, their pages containing a mixture of cultural, social, economic, political information and not having a specialization, the following newspapers developed. In the second half of the nineteenth century regular publications appear (Românul, Timpul etc.), which tend to organize their information by fields they approach (cultural, economic, political) and in this period the first journalists aware of the importance of their act appear (B.P. Hasdeu, C.A. Rosetti, M. Eminescu, Caragiale etc.). These days the Romanian political journalism appears and develops, the newspapers of the time reflecting the directions and trends in internal and international politics. Also, the political journalism recorded an affiliation with one of the existing directions and political ideologies - conservatism or liberalism - as reflected by Românul and Timpul. In this study we intend to present the Romanian political publishing, considering the emergence and specialization of this type of speech, its directions and trends, the language used, the argumentative and persuasive strategies and stylistic marks used.
