Summary/Abstract: "Revisionist Communist parties" find themselves in a dilemma. On the one hand they practice "critical solidarity" toward the USSR by not identifying themselves with certain features of Soviet great power politics (occupation of the ČSSR, support accorded to reactionary regimes in various parts of the world, the repressions at home), on the other hand Moscow emphasizes expressions of solidarity, but keeps its population uninformed concerning about critical remarks. Yet, the Soviet leaders are anxious to find support for their desire to hold a world meeting of Communist parties in order to condemn China. This forces them increasingly into polemics with "revisionist" parties, especially those of Italy, Spain, and Japan. All these developments are symptoms for the process of disintegration in world communism.
