Summary/Abstract: The section, dedicated to the social-economical problems of the Bulgarian Revival, begins with an interesting article about the development of the Bulgarian Renaissance settlements, written by Velko Tonev. This is a part of a more thorough research project that, unfortunately Prof. Velko Tonev could not complete. However, here are marked the observations the author made on the regularity of the particular settlements. It is emphasized that despite the fact that many of them occur on a plain ground, in fact, they continue the life of medieval fortification and out of fortification settlements in the closest surroundings. Special attention is paid to the settlements and the rayah that have privileged status, the one many of the reviewed villages have and the one that forms their essential features. Amongst the interesting issues are the ethno-demographic aspect, economics, social structure of the population and etc.
