Summary/Abstract: Manifesting its generic essence to operate in the delicate filed between the real and the imaginary the architecture from the beginning of the 21st century established itself as the only plastic art with a true popular vanguard. The building ‘icons’, which in the beginning of the third millennium marked its proud uniqueness, elevated with the archaic enigma of artistic narrative, transposed its symbolic value and turned its creators into stars. The elite circle of architect-stars emerged as the result of the mythological commitment of the social consciousness and the capacity of architectural production to be saturated with cultural capital which, as a precondition generated only art forms. The culture of architectural fame is an expression of the priority orientation of modern architecture towards the sphere of art as exponent of its vanguard role in the processes of personification of the development tendencies.
