Summary/Abstract: The establishment of democracy is the main goal of transitional societies, thus making the process of democratisation the key transitional process many other transformational processes are dependent on. Democratisation earmarks the change of political system, structure and consolidation of the democratic order, but also the process of adopting the values of democracy. The trend of increasing religiosity is especially evident in the circumstances of social crisis and big social change such as transition. In a situation of decline of many norms and values and an anomy of values accompanying transitional changes, traditional social values gain strength, while the process of accepting new democratic values is slowed down.
