Summary/Abstract: Another challenge that an enlarged EU faces is the need to balance local customs and values with the demands of closer integration. Agata Kowslowska in her article European Unity through Glocalization explores a novel approach to this conundrum. In joining the EU, the new accession countries will find themselves inside the Schengen Zone and what some commentators call “Fortress Europe”.
