DECISION AND FINANCIAL ANALYSIS MULTICRITERIA: A THEORETICAL APPROACH

Summary/Abstract: Faced with the growing complexity of policy decisions, multicriteria analysis provides a methodological framework richer than traditional methods. Indeed, the multicriteria decision aims at providing the decision maker of tools to make progress in solving a decision problem where several perspectives, often contradictory, must be taken into account. Despite the interest that the use of methods of multicriteria decision in the financial field, few researchers were interested in this research direction. The various existing studies do not exploit all the advantages of the use of multicriteria decision in financial transactions, or they treat one aspect of the problem, they are only adaptation of the classical approach (Average Variance model, expected utility theory and MEDAF), or the methods used are too descriptive in nature. It is in this sense that we have chosen to deal multicriteria financial decisions through the following problem: How multicriteria methods can contribute to decision-making in matters of finance? Thus, the objective of this paper is to highlight the interest of multicriteria methods and present the methodological underpinnings of some of them (the diversity of these methods lies in how to perform synthesis information contained in each criterion). The illustration of multicriteria approaches that we would treat the issue revolves around multi relating to the field of finance, such as the choice of investment or portfolio management of publicly traded company.
