Summary/Abstract: Prayer is one of the fundamental manifestations of home church. Shared prayer of husband and wife is the core and a pillar of family prayer. The sacrament of matrimony makes a married couple’s prayer unique and incomparable to prayer of any other two people. Sacramental bonds of matrimony unite man and woman in all spheres of their life. The Saviour, constantly present between the married couple through the sacrament of matrimony, praises the Father in the Holy Spirit. The prayer of a married couple is joining in the prayer of Jesus Christ, it is the worship of the Father in the love of the Holy Spirit. The prayer of a married couple is experiencing the communion in the Holy Spirit. It is also a shared calling to God the Father, whose children both the husband and the wife are. What married couples value most in their marital prayer is the very fact of a shared meeting with God. In the prayer they experience His presence between them in a special way. Many value the possibility of saying their prayers aloud and listening to what their spouse is praying for. They believe their shared prayer to be conducive to marital unity and love.
