Summary/Abstract: My paper focuses on an emergent research field in the humanities that may create the intellectual Weltanschauung, ideology and praxis of the XXIst century: the cognitive paradigm. The pioneering concepts and methods of Pinker, Damasio, Turner, Fauconnier, Lakoff et alii coalesced as a coherent intellectual program, aiming to rethink art, literature and their metalanguages on neurophysical bases. Two study-cases are discussed: Fauconniers and Turner’s The Way We Think and Antonio Damasio’s The Feeling of What Happens: Body and Emotions in the Making of Consciousness.
