Summary/Abstract: Article analyzes general theoretical aspects of regional peculiarities of foreign trade development. Analysis of scientific ideas and approaches helped to distinguish various attitudes of scientists towards problems of regional peculiarities of foreign trade development. In this study we aim at combining some elements of the traditional theories of regional peculiarities of foreign trade development with methodology of research. Estimation of regional peculiarities of Lithuanian foreign trade development according to suggested methodic is making for three stages. First, we analyze the state of Lithuanian foreign trade (nature, structure and changes of development of foreign trade) in the context of the EU integration. Second, we examine regional peculiarities of Lithuanian foreign trade. Third, we estimate the ways of foreign trade conditions improvement. Research shows that main potential of Lithuanian foreign trade and investment is concentrated in limited number of regions. According to indexes of openness level, we have distinguished the following regions: 1) regions that form main volume of currency income from export; 2) regions that are the main importers of foreign production; 3) main regions oriented to export; 4) regions with the largest import value in general regional product; 5) regions with the greatest comparative weight of direct foreign investments in general volume of the country. Analysis showed that interregional contradictions increase due to uneven development ot territories. Therefore, regional policy performed by the state must pay attention to peculiarities of their development. Complex of means for security of stability and sustainability of development of Lithuanian regions is necessary. In decreasing interregional contradictions special role may be played by purposeful support provided to export by the state that would help to diversify its marketable structure and extend assortment of imported ready production. In order to improve conditions of foreign trade, evaluation of support system of state export was performed and means for creation of favorable environment were created that would help to improve conditions of form of international relations.
