Summary/Abstract: The article raises a question whether critical pluralism leads to complete art interpreter’s freedom. The problem of limits interpreting a work of art is being analyzed through the arguments of analytic aesthetics authors and dialogical Hans-Georg Gadamer’s concept of interpretation. Different approaches to the identity of a work of art are revealed as well as the resultant findings and how the work itself may limit the freedom of the interpreter. It is debated if different interpretations of the same work of art does not destroy its identity. The hermeneutic concept of the adequate understanding is presented as a counterweight to objectivism and relativism.
