Summary/Abstract: The emigrant periodical Magyar Híradó was published in Vienna between 1957 and 1980. It started as information brochure for the nearly two hundred thousand refugees in the camps of Austria and became the longest existing migrant magazine at the doorstep of the Iron Courtain. That was the reason why it became a target of the Hungarian State Security Agencies too. Based on reports of the Historical Archives of these agencies it is possible to reconstruct a series of attempts to enlist the editors, most notably György Sebestyén and Gyula Klamár, as agents. A close reading of the documents allows us to understand the dynamics of the Cold War in Hungary and Austria in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
