Summary/Abstract: Philosophy and culture are inseparable parts of human creation. Philosophy as the axis of culture influences both spiritual and material creation. Herewith philosophy is always beyond culture, which has been directed by philosophy while formatting a certain life-art. Therefore philosophy is both part of culture and its unapproachable horizon. On the other hand, philosophy is a contemplation of cultural phenomena, i. e. phenomenology of creation; this presupposes that the interpretation of culture in existential perspective has influenced our thought. The interconnection between philosophy and culture supposes a space of existential creation, where the conceptions and ideas unfold historically. This issue continues the topic “Lithuanian philosophy: the past and the present”. The issue consists of three chapters in which the interconnection of Lithuanian philosophy and culture in different aspects is analysed. The first chapter, Development of philosophy in the old Vilnius University, deals with the beginning of two philosophical branches – logic and poetics – in Lithuania. The second chapter, The conceptions of culture in interwar Lithuania, is devoted to the interwar cultural conceptions interpreted in the context of the contemporary philosophy of culture. The third chapter, Philosophical reflection of culture, presents the phenomena of contemporary culture in Lithuania.
