Summary/Abstract: When one speaks of spiritual discernment, the "spiritual" means the level at which the discernment takes place. Christians have received the Holy Spirit to be able to discern what comes from God (1 Corinthians 2:12). Discernment of spirits is understanding the subject (the situation of the spirit, lights, movements, and the spirits themselves - a kind of spiritual beings - that affect humans). Only the "spiritual man" is capable of discernment. The primary key to discern are the words of Christ. On the basis of the Bible and ecclesiastical tradition, the Church can now explore the new rules of discernment, if it is required in a situation.
