In Search of Continuity. Tradition in the Cinematography and Culture of West Africa

Summary/Abstract: Lubomirska tries to present the situation of the contemporary cinema of the French-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa in the context of its history, production financing, distribution and training of African filmmakers. But the main theme concentrates around the meaning of oral tradition for the cinematography and the function of griot, a story-teller who perpetuates for future generations stories and myths that are so important for traditional African communities.
