Summary/Abstract: Ethnographic film does not have a strong position in Poland (although there are interesting and important examples of such films). Film anthropology is doing better. Film anthropology is defined here as a definitely broader field dealing with the functioning of film in culture, which is then considered as an important cultural testimony or a form of neomythology. Film anthropology would be included in the broader formula of visual anthropology that attempts to examine the functioning of visuality in specific cultures. Sikora tries to present the specific character of ethnographic (anthropological) film in reference to anthropologists’ wider interest in film.
