Summary/Abstract: The Russian Deacon Andrei Kuraev gives a brief presentation of the aspects of the ecumenical phenomena, its directions and its means, in his book – The Provocations of Ecumenism, published in Bucharest, in 2006, in a Romanian translation. This is a synthesis of the analyses conducted by the Russian theologian, escorted by focused comments on the polysemantic term “ecumenism”, ranging from the defi nitely positive to the most demonized, referring especially to the Orthodox world.
