Summary/Abstract: During my research I analysed the well-preserved management accounts concerning the Nógrád County-centred estates of the Koháry family made between 1720 and 1731. In the given period a speciality of the Nógrád-centred estates was that they were partly in collective family possession and partly owned by family members. Managing the shared and undivided landed properties and keeping the management records was the responsibility of the same steward (officialis) though the person changed in the course of time. With the help of the accounts I examined the revenues and running expenses of the common property of the Koháry family and the individual properties of István II Koháry, judge royal (iudex curiae regiae) and András Koháry through which also the economic characteristics of the estate types got outlined. From the landowners’ viewpoint the three estates were managed effectively as the landowners’ income was remarkably high. Because of the low operating costs the landowner’s income on the family-run Koháry estate was 99% between 1720 and 1731, on István II Koháry’s estate it was 15% in 1725, and 79-96% between 1726 and 1730, while on András Koháry’s estate it was 71-73% between 1727 and 1731.
