Summary/Abstract: This paper intends a reconstruction draft of the Romanian philosopher Constantin Noica’s metaphysical view on the main issues of the Romanian culture, caused by the strong interwar debates on modernization. Despite its vast field and the appreciable time of elaboration, Noica’s view confined over time the terms of a fundamental contradiction of Romanian thinking: that between potentiality (virtuality) and reality, past and present, local and global. Though it may seem that Noica’s position always favours virtuality (i.e. the original development of Romanian culture in its own fabulous potential inner horizon), which it, nevertheless, does, our point is that an acceptable solution could come only by recognizing the importance of reality and finding the path to value the national cultural richness in the real world of foreign cultures. Inspired by the Western values and achieved in the last years of Noica’s life, the socalled “hermeneutical logic” was in fact meant to be a Romanian (local) metaphysical answer to regional (European) and global cultural issues.
