The role of the European Union in counteracting the results of natural disasters

Summary/Abstract: This article describes the role which is played by the European Union in counteracting the negative results of natural disasters. In the first part of the article, the author presents the occurrence of natural disasters and their influence on the environment. Next there is described the international cooperation of the European Union states in the field of counteracting the results of natural disasters in Europe.
