Summary/Abstract: Even though extensive violent conflict does not represent an immediate threat, the relatively stable security situation in Kosovo is indeed threatened. The risk dwells mainly in three mutually interconnected issues: economy, job migration and organized crime. The author suggests the harmonization of the EU and the US approaches in order to solve these problems. He argues that even though the EU’s policy in Kosovo has been little effective and it is not the right moment for handing over the UNMIK mission to the EU, the development policy is the EU’s bread and butter policy. According to the author, no radical cuts are needed, but a gradual development strategy should be applied.
