Summary/Abstract: September 12, 2011, the Kingdom of Norway held elections for local government bodies – municipal and county. For the first time in the history of this country, the government decided to use Internet voting (hereinafter also referred to as i-voting) in the general election. It was decided that the pilot program would be named e-valg2011. It is worth mentioning, that it was not the first such project in Europe. In this paper the authors presented solutions for the use of i-voting, adopted in Norway. They began their analysis with a presentation of current state law, in the field of election and e-voting. They indicated the basis for the implementation of modern methods of participation in democratic processes. It was also crucial to emphasize the solutions and compare them with that used so far in other countries. It is important to discuss on those elements, that make up the system. In the end, authors presented the results of the election and indicated issues that relate to the application of information technology in elections. Solutions used in Norway must be regarded as successful. Certainly they contribute much to discussion on the shape of Internet voting. They should be borne in mind when designing other systems for this purpose.
