Borsch and the Greek case

Summary/Abstract: Jerzy Got has investigated the theme of borsch in the culture of ancient Greece. What caused him to write this analysis was Plutarch’s observation, that Kato the Younger once mocked the Greek actors, by giving them vegetables (including beetroots). Hence, the question whether the ancient Greeks could have been eating borsch.
