Summary/Abstract: Pronominal forms of address: a Portuguese / Romanian comparative analysis. The aim of this paper is to briefly analyze the pronominal address forms in two Romance languages, Portuguese (Brazilian and European) and Romanian. The comparative analysis of newspaper corpora showed that the two languages have similar patterns for the 1st person address forms, while the address forms for the addressee and the third party have particularities in each language. Regarding the address forms for the addressee, there are differences between European and Brazilian Portuguese and very flexible usages in Romanian. As far as the forms of address for the third party are concerned, Romanian expresses several degrees of politeness with its complex pronominal system, while both varieties of Portuguese have minimal inventories.
