Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with morphological features and analitical forms of the SP in the English and Lithuanian languages. Generally in the English and Lithuanian languages the syntactic predicates (SP) contain verbs by which the predication is conveyed. In English the structure of the morphosyntactic expression and the boundaries of the SPs generally do not correspond with the structural types and morphosyntactic expression of the SPs in Lithuanian. The problem arises approaching the comparison of the corresponding structural types of the SPs and their interpretation in both languages. In modern English grammars SPs contain verbs, the structure of which are generally analyzed approaching the morphology, syntax and semantics – according to the position in a sentence. The English analytical forms and the structure of the verb as the SP are of morphological nature. In modern Lithuanian grammars the SP is generally analyzed approaching the criteria of structure, morphology and semantics according to the importance in the sentence. Based on these criteria, the Lithuanian SPs are differentiated into the simple and compound predicates. The analytical forms of SPs are defined as the combinations of the words related with synthetic forms paradigmatically that generally form the system of grammatical tenses.
