Summary/Abstract: Current edition of the Policy Brief IVPR brings issue of long-term care contextualised within European citizenship and the European Year of Citizens 2013. The topic was a deliberate choice, because European citizenship and the ensuing rights are not traditionally associated to the long-term care. Long-term care represents one of the most dynamic spheres of social protection, which will become more intense within mobility of citizens everyday issues. Moreover, implementation of European coordination mechanisms in this area is strongly and frequently discussed topic in adversarial positions of different groups of professionals who are involved in it, which is a big challenge for scientific research of the community. Our intention was to introduce the issue of long-term care as an important part of European citizenship and free movement of people in European area, to analyze international and domestic legal environment for implementation rights of migrant people in this area, including negotiation, diversity of views, in which it is currently recorded on the domestic scene. Thanks to the knowledge this diversity can be better analyzed and some practical problems currently perceived in national practice can be better understood.
