Summary/Abstract: Sects has significantly increased their number and activity in Europe recently. Their status has also changed. There is a noticeable predominance of a specifically understood religious pluralism that consists in ignoring any difference between the Church and a sect. This pluralism is due to the nature of contemporary sciences (especially to that of sociology and psychology), which while examining religious sects resign to analyze their doctrines. Sciences chronically omit any critical reflection on the doctrine of sects, and fail to recognize the difference between them and the Church. The author claims that nothing but philosophy seems to indicate effectively metaphysical implications of sects. Philosophy also allows to state that sect can not be regarded as a necessary stage of the development of religion, at most it seems to be its unsuccessful copy.
