Summary/Abstract: The contemporary multitude of options in the way of leading marital life, the new patterns of marital relations that appear, may incline one to ask the question about what is the current line-up in a Christian marriage. Over the centuries the answer to this question was given in various ways. What distinguishes the Catholic concept of marriage is the conviction that the marital relation should be interpreted through the mystery of the bond between Christ and the Church.
