Summary/Abstract: Exhibitions and trade fairs in Slovakia are from their beginnings reflection of the social, political, economical and cultural development, on the other hand they affect all of the spheres mentioned above. After initial boom, mainly after the growth of quantity at the beginning of the nineties of 20th century, its development stagnates. The situation of the media can be characterized analogically. Totalitarian uniformity of the content and form of media was changed by great scale of print and audiovisual media, horizontal and vertical differentiation of media deepened. They became part of market economy with its all positive and negative sites. Both themes mentioned above, exhibitions and trade fairs, as well as media came into interaction in immemorial existence. We centered our attention on their co-existence under conditions of actual Slovak Republic. Parallel way, we focused on the evolution of exhibitions and fair sector, but also the way, how trades and exhibitions make use of media for their own existence and self-representation. We came out from continuous monitoring of trade fairs and exhibitions as well as media. The study is understood as the rst exploring of the problems, we are conscious of more dimensions and plies of the problems. In the future, we plan to carry forward into deeper analysis, not only because the problem was not analyzed from this point of view, but also for further enriching of themes as well. The first part of study comes out with summing up the knowledge about exhibitions and trade fair activities under Slovak conditions. In the second part we focused on the interaction of both subjects. The conclusion summarizes investigations and it is an attempt of making a prognosis of further development.
