The Eurolect and the Problems of Translation

Summary/Abstract: The present article offers a brief discussion of the features of the Eurolect with a view to the problems of translation. This specific linguistic subsystem is defined and described on the levels of lexis, syntax, semantics and style. Problems of its reception and use are also touched upon. Analysed are some of the most common difficulties in the translation of Eurolect vocabulary from the perspective of Bulgarian. The article adduces examples from English, French and Bulgarian excerpted from real Eurotexts.
