Summary/Abstract: The article compares two dramas of similar plot: Barbora Radvilaitė by Balys Sruoga (unfinished, 1946) and Barbora Radvilaitė by Juozas Grušas (1971). The thematic, structural and stylistic similarities, repetitive motives, quotations by Sruoga, paraphrases in Grušas texts, use of Barbora Radvilaitė intertexts are searched for in both works. It is a task of internal comparativistics and comparison in one national literature but it leads to a wider context. Both dramas contain traces of historical-chronical, hagiographic and tragedy discourse, similarity to Shakespeare's tragedies (very specific combination of Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet in Barbora Radvilaitė by Juozas Grušas). The comparison of dramas enables to reveal not only the relations between provider and receiver, Sruoga's loanwords in Grušas text (theatre motive is the clearest one) but also to speak about theme's spread in them: there is observed how the theme starts in one drama, continues, transforms, matures in another drama. Two dramas - two versions of interpretation of Barbora Radvilaitė's history, two types of historical drama, two metaphorical stages.
