Summary/Abstract: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the child/young, could not follow the events of the Parisian musical life on live radio broadcasting, and could not see on TV the performances of the London Opera House, could not hear from recordings the new fashion in opera composing. He experienced all these live on locations at a very young and most susceptible age during his concert- and study tours or during his search for a more suitable job. The great travelers, as the young Mendelssohn-Bartholdy or Liszt acquired or suffered the current topics or the changing of the musical life by direct contact, because the audio and visual channels of communication were far away in the future. In a case study about media consumption among underage children in our days, the educational aspects, the discussions about the personality-shaping power are a primary concern. If we research the time before the Internet – before the on-line era –, let us ask the question: which way would it have been possible for a child to meet the classical music in the media? Because there were no reports about these things, I will bring some examples from my personal experience and compare it with some more actual examples, emphasizing why and to what end live audio and visual broadcasting is good besides live music and music playing.
