Summary/Abstract: In the context of recent developments in higher education in Romania and the fierce competition between graduates to work in their field of expertize, the investment in personal and professional development could prove to be a winning strategy. The objective of the study was to perform a training needs analysis for Psychology students in the case of ADHD. Students from the 1st and 3rd year participated in the study. We constructed a questionnaire to measure knowledge of ADHD and personal perception regarding training needs; later we compared the results between the two samples. The results revealed a surprising lack of knowledge of ADHD for both samples, students themselves stating that they feel unprepared or scarcely prepared at the present time for work with ADHD children. Training programs should focus on presentations of techniques, real case studies, and solutions; they should be run during graduate studies and should cost between 51 and 150 lei. In conclusion, the research supports the need for training in ADHD issues for Psychology students. Limitations of the study include those inherent to self-report measures.
