Summary/Abstract: The article is based on comparative research on Turkish and Russian idioms with the meaning of happiness and grief, the universal and inevitable feelings which all enjoy or suffer in their lives. The article includes a thematic list of idioms expressing happiness and grief in Turkish and Russian languages and reveal what is specific, common and different for Russian and Turkish people in their metaphorical understanding and verbalizing of the mentioned feelings.
