Summary/Abstract: When people have to face serious, even irreversible environmental damages, several people tend to blame Genesis from the Bible for this current situation. There are some statements about human’s domination in the Bible which can be misunderstood by superficial readers. These statements seem to legitimate a supernatural violent and unlimited exploitation. These critics originate from the false interpretation message of the first Genesis story. According to the Bible, the human being was created on the base of God’s image and similarity. God invited the Man to join Him in a personal relationship and take part in His caring reigning. The Bible witnesses that God created a good world. If God considers the world good and He loves it, we must not select and count on any profit. The motif of environmental protection is not only an avoidance of the future environmental catastrophe or the protection of human life and health, but for Christians it means that the creatures’ value is in themselves together with an ontological goodness too, which they received when they were created by the Creator. The ecological crisis is a moral problem. There is a need for paradigm shift and it is the task of the Church to point at its values. Every Christian has to realize that they are responsible for the creation, they have to serve the natural environment and the Creator, because it is the basis of their faith.
