СВЕДЕНИЯ ЗА АСИМИЛАЦИОННИ ПРОЦЕСИ, ЗАПАЗЕНИ В РОДОВАТА ПАМЕТ НА НАСЕЛЕНИЕТО ОТ СЕЛО ЧАКАЛАРОВО, КЪРДЖАЛИЙСКО
INFORMATION ABOUT ASSIMILATION PROCESSES, KEPT IN FAMILY MEMORY OF THE POPULATION IN THE VILLAGE OF CAKALAROVO, KURDZALI REGION

Summary/Abstract: The authoress draws her attention to the family memory of the population from East Rodopi, keeping records about the troubled times of Ottoman political and economic yoke, of social and cultural oppression. The events, which have mostly influenced this region, are connected with the processes of ethnic assimilation, of violent imposing of Islam among the local Bulgarian people. On the basis of a series of written sources, archaeological and epigraphic data, it is shown that the assimilation processes here had two stages — to the end of XVII c. (in the form of physical extermination of the enslaved nation), and after (as a mass religious national discrimination and a rude fanaticism against the local population). In this article one of the forms of this bloodless assimilation is more thoroughly examined and according to the family chronicle of the village of Cakalarovo.
