Summary/Abstract: Dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Bulgarian composer Vladimir Pantchev (b. 1948), who is living in Vienna since 1991, the book traces back the significance of his creative work to the development of the contemporary Bulgarian music and putting it into a genuine and dynamic European context. Vladimir Pantchev is a composer who has realized his ideas in a brilliant innovative approach, based and built upon the objective traditions and paradigms of the 20th century music, such as they could be viewed in the context of the European music and its realms in the development of the contemporary Bulgarian music. The book consists of two texts – Vladimir Pantchev’s Creative Work in the Contemporary Bulgarian Music (Dr. Elisaveta Valchinova-Chendova in dialog with the composer) and The World of My Music (Dr. Albena Naidenova conversations with him), accompanied by texts about Vladimir Pantchev’s work by the Austrian musicologist Dr. Christain Bayer. The book is bilingual, published with the financial help from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and Austro-Mechana/soziale & kulturelle einrichtungen. The authors’ choice for the text’s dialogue form is right on target. This is a book about as well as by Vladimir Pantchev. It is an original double psycho-cultural séance and a profound analysis of different stages and phases of his development and affirmation as a composer. A brilliant and thorough chronotope of the impetuous creative path of a Bulgarian composer, found his well-deserved place in the contemporary European music.
