Summary/Abstract: This article analizes the structural features of causative prepositions. Through comparing three languages - the German, the Lithuanian and the Russian - the object is to observe the structure of causative prepositions from the viewpoint of typology. The analized languages first of all obviously differ in the quantity of causative prepositions, especially there are few of them in the Lithuanian language. In the article, the groups of causative prepositions are classified according to the level of their transparency and grammaticalization, these groups are as well characterized as regards how many significant relations they can express. It has been verified that among other analyzed languages the Lithuanian language proves to be the most archaic type, which, if compared with the causative preposition constructions in the German and Russian languages, practically excludes analitical elements from his structure.
