Summary/Abstract: The most famous books about the First World War belong to so-called ‘Lost Generation’ literature. As it is generally known, this term outlines only spiritual position of writers, their attitude toward war, general atmosphere of those years, because each of them had their own, special way in literature. In regard to Slavic writers this term is not used, they did not apply to self definition ‘Lost Generation’. Dehumanizing nature of war and its devastating impact on the person, people’s efforts to confront a brutal reality, the problem of returning to postwar life interested the majority of European writers, including writers from East and South Slavic countries. In this article we analyse how Slavic literatures (particularly Serbian, Croatian and Ukrainian) are correlated with the literature of the ‘Lost Generation’, pointing out their differences and similarity.
