Summary/Abstract: A stimulating international workshop was held by the Institut für jüdische Geschichte Österreichs in St. Pölten and Österreichisches Museum für Volkskunde in Wien in Vienna on 19 and 20 November 2009. Those taking part, from Europe, America and Israel, focused both theoretically and practically on the historical and contemporary aspects of Jüdische Volkskunde (Jewish ethnography) – the study, reception, meaning and contextualization of everyday Jewish life and culture, rituals and customs.
