Summary/Abstract: Recent findings show that some facets of perfectionism are associated with anxiety and distress, whereas other facets are associated with positive characteristics as motivation and achievement. The aim of present study is to investigate how different facets of perfectionism are related to achievement and distress in athletes. Results showed that healthy perfectionism is characterized by higher levels on organization, higher personal standards and is associated with achievement motivation. Unhealthy perfectionism is characterized by perceptions of higher parental expectations and criticism, concern over mistakes, doubts about actions and is associated with anxiety and depression.
