Summary/Abstract: The article explores the oppositional activities of the Popular Party and its attitude towards the domestic policy of the government of the Popular-Liberal party (1903-1908). Protagonist of the tempered actions, the formation evaluates the actions of the ruling party according to its credo. In most cases the critique is of constructive character and becomes a corrective of the governors. Thanks to the reveals of “Mir” newspaper, the affair “Charles and Jean”, connected with major abuses in the armament of the Bulgarian army, comes out into the open. The long standing in opposition, however, gives its reflection and in some cases the critiques are not based on solid ground. It reveals the active pre-election activity of the Popular party as a result of which it has the second largest parliamentary group after that of the ruling party. This fact gives the grounds to the formation to determine itself as a leader in the opposition fight and to pretend for the power during the government changes in the period. The Popular party participates also in all unions of the opposition powers. With its initiative and constructive critique the Popular party contributes to the modernization of Bulgaria and for its building as an European country with developed constitutional-parliamentary system and economy.
