Summary/Abstract: Constantin Noica’s ontological perspective is based on an exhaustive dichotomy of Being: the Generative Being and the Integrative Being. The goal of this paper is to prove that the fourfold scheme of Noica: Theme – Antitheme – Thesis – Theme recovered, may be reduced to a dichotomic ontological model. I also argue that, from Noica’s point of view, the essence is not the only fundament of being. The existence is also significant. To support this thesis, I will highlight the ontological aspects corresponding to the Generative Being (Being per se). The main concept I will discuss is that of becomeness (deveninţă), focussing on the aspects that are identified with the Integrative Being (with reference to existence). I will analyze the maladies of the spirit and the modulations of the verb to be. Relevant to the present research is the examination of the manner in which Noica modified the table of Kantian categories, so that they came to be ontological stages, levels of the real and not only categories of the intellect. In the final part of the essay, in order to properly place the concept of becoming into being into this ontological scheme, I will discuss the issue of the two types of becoming (becoming into being and becoming into becoming), explaining the meanings of this classification for the dual ontological scheme that I propose.
