Summary/Abstract: The article deals with one kind of attributive phrases, depending components of which characterize the thing according its proper purpose. The material of the research is taken from fiction and periodical language. The analysis of purpose relations is based on lexical composition and morphological structure of phrases. While integrating various means of expression into compact system the shades of meaning of attributive phrases and synonymous powers are revealed, modifying forms are raised and evaluated according to the language norms. The role of context is emphasized while analyzing the connections between analyzed and objective phrases.
