The First Authentic Message about the Beginning of the Extermination of European Jews

Summary/Abstract: The essay discusses an early and nearly forgotten report on the early deportation of European Jews to Nisko by Lewis Namier, a famous British historian of Jewish-Polish origin. Although Namier published mostly on 18th century Britain, he was an engaged anti-fascist. In his article from the Times, published as early as December 1939, he sketched out the plight of the deported, realistically estimated the further development and warned of the catastrophe that indeed was to come.
